The AKG C4000B features a genuine 1-inch dual diaphragm condenser transducer with a selectable cardioid, omnidirectional, and hypercardioid polar pattern switch. The C4000B is designed primarily for miking vocals, brass, acoustic and electric guitar, and kick drums. With exceptionally high headroom and low self noise, the C4000B is among the condenser microphones with the widest dynamic range available.

This microphone also features a switchable 10 dB preattenuation pad; this allows the microphone to be used for close-in miking of instruments producing extremely high sound pressure levels. You'll also find a switchable bass cut filter to eliminate low-frequency noise.
